Swiss railways: Golden Pass route (2011)
The Golden Pass route is a scenic (and heavily promoted) tourist route that travles over three distinct railways: the meter-gauge Zentralbahn from Lucerne to Interlaken; standard-gauge BLS to Zweisimmen; and Montreux–Oberland Bernois (also standard guage) west to Montreux. We rode a spearate intercity service on the Zentralbahn segment, but did use the Golden Pass service over the middle segment on BLS (which at the time we rode it, was equipped with conventional cars) and the westernmost segment via M-O-B, which featured very nicely equipped cars with panoramic windows and plush seats.
