Railways of Scandinavia (2011)
This album includes photos taken in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm, and a series of images from a trip between Oslo and Bergen (the popular "Norway in a Nutshell" tour). When we arrived at Copenhagen airport on a flight from Edinburgh, we took a local train into the city. I later learned that these Öresundståg trains are in fact international, operating between Helsingør, Denmark, and Malmö, Sweden, via the tunnel and bridge across the Oresund strait. I was able to find good vantage points for photographing trains arriving and departing the central stations in both Copenhagen and Stockholm. Oslo was more of a challenge, although part of the reason was that there was major construction going on all around the station there. The trip between Oslo and Bergen did yield a few good photos, but our return trip to Oslo was terminated by an electrical failure on the railway somewhere between Nesbyen and Oslo. We ended up taking a two-hour bus trip back to Oslo, arriving there about midnight.
