I highly recommend viewing it large and on black

For clarity: the cloud and its placement is completely real (i.e., this is straight out of the camera - no PS).

This shot was taken from my balcony (30th Floor) with a tripod. The lens used was a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 at 14mm f/8.

Three exposures (-2/0/+2) processed in Photomatix and then saturation was adjusted (i.e., I de-saturated it) in Adobe Lightroom, inlcuding minor adjustments to highlights and shadows. It was shot just before 6pm as the city lights were coming on.

if i had a view like that, i'd also take such cool pictures :) its really awesome. Sometimes i feel like no camera can mimic the eye - just imagine how it must have been to stand on your balcony there.

Thanks everyone for continuing to look, comment, and fave! This cloud still kind of blows my mind and I look out at the same landscape every day.

, i'm sure you've sussed this out already since your comment, but, yes: multiple exposures then merged or "tonemapped". I use Photomatix software to do it, but there are other methods.
