Leica M4 recovered after a house fire

    Newer Older

Because it's not like you can just throw one of these away, right?

On display at Hayata Camera in Asakusa. Hayata san told me it suffered through a fire. Looks like someone scraped off the remaining vulcanite.

I ask myself how much Leica will charge for the repair.

I wonder it can be restored or not.... I saw once PENTAX SP recovered from concrete block, that was UN-re storable!
But Only Leica can keep shape of camera as all the Japanese one is plastic and magnesium covering which are highly flammable....!

To me it is a piece of art. The "soul of Leica" has not gone away. You only get images with it in your dreams...

at Solms in the display cabinet is a Leica 'body' that (I am not sure of my translation) was involved n the Hindenberg air-ship disaster. Leica ruefully admit they could not rescue it - it is a blob of molten ally like the Dahli watch painting!
So this one here would be listed as 'light cosmetic - repairable' in the motor trade world...
