All Powered Up
Could not believe my eyes when I first saw this. I must say, pretty creative way to solve the generator theft problem…
This appears to possibly be a Honda 2500 Watt Generator with day tank (15 hour run time!!) Up a pole!
Note that along with being around 15 foot up the pole, it has both a chain and cable padlocked, supporting and securing the generator to the pole.
When I first observed this, I assumed it was powering some existing telephone equipment, like maybe for some reason they lost shore power and had to improvise, But now when I examine the photo on a larger screen, it appears to be some type of independent radio site. Note the unusually placed vertically polarized sector antenna. These are usually used in the cell phone industry, but can also be use for other radio communication like WiFi and land mobile 2-way radio relays or repeaters. I'm tempted to drag my spectrum analyzer out, and set up below the pole to try identify the emission, but I'd need to drag out my own generator to power the analyzer.. ;-)
