Awakening Tour Stuff

Goal: Promote a mission trip that had multiple stops

    Audience: 6th-12th grade

Direction: I had no direction. I was simply told to make a poster and logo and shirts to help promote the events.
Decided to keep everything as separated from conventional church media as possible. I wanted the brand to feel more like gig posters, and a band on tour rather than a church mission trip.

Project: Gig poster, multiple shirt designs (these are only 2 of 7 that I did), a logo reveal, and hand out cards.

Other important info: This is finished. Actually a couple years old.

I'm definitely getting the band vibe. The type treatment is sick.

Wow. I just love this. Do you mind sharing what the base font for the design is?

There were a lot of different ones I referenced, most by Hydro 74. But when it comes down to it, it's really all custom, just sketched a lot until it got close to this point and then I traced it all in Illustrator.

This is great, thanks for posting.

I have seen that moon, or something like it, used before. Could you point me toward where you found it by chance?

It was a stock photo I found somewhere. Sadly I don't remember. Sorry.

I triple-dog love the typography. While both look awesome from a design standpoint I'm not comfortable with the message being sent with the faceless masses in the crowd, or the moon for that matter. (Although it is entirely possible, as an outsider, that I don't have the same lens you have and they are spot-on.) I like the grey shirt with the circle because it allows the type to shine.

      Very nice work!

What message do you feel is being communicated?

But thanks a ton for the compliments!

Maybe I reading way too much into the imagery - always playing devil's advocate trying to imagine what the worst case scenario argument would be. To me the crowd image feels like a zombie walk or implying that the folks you helped on the mission trip were sheep-like brainless masses or something. I get the rock & roll t-shirt vibe for a youth group, and I absolutely love the designs, they just feel like they didn't match the "message" for a youth mission trip. The third one is very cool without triggering any red flags in my mind.

You are without question a wildly talented designer! Thanks for sharing your work!

Ha. Well that certainly wasn't my thought when initially doing the artwork. More of a large crowd standing and waiting in anticipation for what is going to happen next. I can see where you would get the imagery though.
But this also wasn't a typical mission trip, which was the reason for the strong imagery.
I appreciate your feedback though. Great to hear/read a fresh opinion on this stuff.
