Flickr Tag Mapping

A diagram for university, its not quite finished, but aims to map the amount and type of connections between tags, shown by the varying size of inner circles. The thickness of connecting lines also represents the amount of photos the database could have access to by adding a additional tags to the search. The idea is to see how people start to perceive London from a specific point. In this case the point/tag is "trafalgar" sothe diagram shows the most common tags associated with trafalgar and begins to analyse the connections of these associated tags.

This is a very low res version of a vector drawing. So quality isn't amazing. This also has all the layers on, its makes a lot more sense when you read the drawing as the 50 or so individual drawings.

Developed in what, and is there a live URL?
  • Toby 9y

Developed with Flash and Flickr API, the graphical representation above was further enhanced with Illustrator.

A live URL will be up in July/August. As I'm just concluding my course and I'll have the time to format it, refine it, and implement it properly then.

I'll keep everyone posted by adding links/developments here accordingdly.

A very interesting way to display information, thanks. I have seen a diagram like this to describle ecologoical connections, but it was quite superficial, yours has much more information content.

What a fantastic chart/map Toby. Really effective with it's connections and colours. Reminds me (I think) of some of the Ars Electronica network diagrams..
