Object of Reverence | Paharganj, Delhi, India
This small, well cared for shrine to Sai Baba of Shirdi sat at the bottom of the stairway leading up to the DB Gupta Road bridge. The stairway itself stayed busy during the day. After dark things slowed down enough that a number of beggars and homeless people were able to establish spots on the concrete landings where they would spend the night. As I came down the stairs, one man was in the process of injecting another with what I assume was some type of illegal drug. They did not seem to notice as I (or anyone else) walked past. This was the only time I was aware any kind of drug use during my time in India—aside from hashish or bhang.
