Watching Me Watch You | The Red Fort, Old Delhi, India
Out of frame to my left was a large pile of something like mortar. The woman on the right would bring an empty metal basin back with her to the pile where it was filled for her. She would then return to the scaffolding with the full basin balanced on her head. (Note the small pad positioned on the top of her head.) There it was passed on to the second woman who would bring it up the first flight of stairs. The man in the yellow turban manned the second flight after which the basin of mortar was passed on two more times before being spread on the roof.
The two women seemed quite amused by my interest in the process.
