Sunrise Metropolis

Here's a new shot from the universe of Planet Manchester! It was taken (as with several of my Mancunian pictures) from the roof of a multi-storey car park in Shudehill - one of the best places in the city centre to breathe the last of the night air and watch the distant world wake up for a new day.

This image is rendered from four adjacent photographs which have been stitched together and warped with a stereographic projection technique. You can create artwork like this very easily by using a certain sort of of fisheye lens; but less wealthy photographers (like me) can create the effect with the assistance of a fairly basic filter algorithm and the right alterations in Photoshop.
