Manasha Puja

Devi Manasha, the patron saint of serpents and snake catchers, is supposed to be the daughter of Lord Shiva. Her popularity is somewhat restricted to Bengal but even then she holds a high position in the Hindu belief. Manasha is the goddess of snakes and fertility. She fulfils the wishes and protects one against snakebite. Associated with the earth and higher knowledge, she is worshipped mostly in Bangladesh and eastern India. She is also propitiated by those not having children for an early child birth.

Special murtis of Manasha devi are prepared during the period and worshipped.
