Martin Doyle Flutes made from Boxwood
Boxwood was the tone wood of choice in Europe for woodwind instruments such as the recorder and flutes until woods such as African Blackwood, Cocus and rosewoods were discovered and exploited through the process of colonisation. Martin Doyle has made a variety of flutes from Irish and European boxwood over the years. They include simple system 'Irish' flutes in a range of keys and also Baroque flutes.
