Cumulonimbus at Sunset, 30,000 Feet

This massive cumulonimbus took us ten minutes or more to pass, traveling 500 miles per hour! It was after sunset on the ground, but the sun was still barely above the horizon at our altitude, so it was illuminating the cap of this cloud with beautiful orange sunset color. The cap was so brightly lit that it in turn illuminated the nimbus deck below it. The convection cell was very active, with plenty of lightning which I attempted to photograph with no luck. The scene was so beautiful, it belied the violence of such a storm.
