beauty carved out of absolutes
years before i thought of travelling to south america i remember watching a documentary on the bbc called lost land of the jaguar which followed a small group of filmmakers and scientists travelling to the jungles of guyana. when one of the team went to this waterfall i thought he was the luckiest person ever - to go and experience somewhere so beautiful - and i never imagined that i'd be in a similar position. i completely forgot about the place when i was preparing for my trip to south america and it was only by chance that i met another traveller in argentina who had the same documentary on his computer. since then it was always on my itinerary and my main motivation for visiting guyana. if you've been following this blog you'll know that it took me sometime to travel between argentina and guyana, but i was adamant that i'd get there eventually and i'm so glad that i kept that commitment. it was, without question, the best waterfall i have ever seen in my life. and yes, i felt very, very lucky to be there.
