Regency 'Chinese', 1825

Understated, isn't it?!


Influenced by Brighton Pavilion, the Prince Regent's highly exotic 'Chinese' palace by the sea (that is to say 'Chinoiserie', a European interpretation/fantasy of Chinese style), and other Regency rooms such as the Chinese room in Carlton House (demolished, although parts of it ended up in Buckingham Palace).


Everything handpainted except for the rug and vases. Before shot /work in progress:


You can't quite tell from the photo but the circle is a little stained glass window...the gold bit being a brooch found at a car boot sale.
