Two Toms on the bow
Two Tomcats await cat shots off the bow as we circle overhead at 2K'. You can see from the white steam that another jet has just been shot off of Cat 3. Notice that there is no wake behind the ship: it was waiting until the launch was complete to accelerate and start making some serious wind over the deck. Unlike recoveries, Cat shots theoretically do not require much headwind. However with little or no wind, the cat strokes are more violent as they must accelerate the jets to higher flying speeds.
