Thanks to one of my favorite flickr folk, taranoel for letting me post this revision of one of her wonderful photoworks.
I found her original photograph to be very evocative, although it wasn't after making about ten
different variations that I started to figure out where it wanted to
take me: back home. When I was young I lived in South Korea and both
the child's face and various things that showed up in the processing
started reminding me of Korea. Specifically I was reminded of a
profound connection to the earth (as in planet and dirt) that I felt
in that culture when I was growing up.
My work on this is also a bit of an hommage to a Korean artist who I was reminded of today and whose work has long had a hold on me: 박 수 근 (Bak Su Geun)
