I'd heard that some Cape May Warblers were at this park, so I headed off to find them. An hour's drive & 90 mins of hiking later, I had seen no warblers and virtually no birds either save for a few chickadees and wrens. When I reached the far edge of the park (& the furthest point from the car park!) I was feeling quite despondent as I turned around & headed back. Happily, 2 minutes later my mood took a complete 180 when right next to the trail I came across a family of Three-toed Woodpeckers (lifer for me) who spent a few minutes going up & down a large spruce tree. A very satisfying end to what was looking like a disappointing outing :)
Still catching up on a backlog of shots from summer...more to come.
