Portrait of a Least Sandpiper (Calidris minutilla)

    Newer Older

    9 Aug, 2014 - Sittingstone Lake, AB
For about an hour I had a mixed flock of ~100 Least and Semi-palmated Sandpipers within about 15 feet of me so managed to get some pleasing close-ups of these tiny little peeps. I was in plain view & the best part was just the feeling of knowing (well, technically, me choosing to believe) they didn't mind me at all.

Beautiful details where they need to be, with a wonderfully shallow DoF. Great close-up of this Sandpiper !
