When a father is a Dad
How do we define who is a good father? Is it a man who keeps his job and puts food on the table? Or is it a man who reads to his children bedtime stories, who takes them out on hikes, teaches them about animals, insects, flowers and trees? Or is it a man who cooks their meals, washes the dishes, do the laundry and cleans the rooms? Is it a man who teaches them right from wrong? Or maybe takes them to the movies, to eat in restaurants, and visit the circus when it comes to town?
Is a good father the one who listens to you when others do not, who carries you in his arms when you're too tired to walk, who teaches you the rules of any game and buy you crayons and clean your hands?
Who is a good father? He who is present in your life and knows every little thought in your mind? He who gives you pocket money, but won't stick around? He who lets you down, won't show up in time, but would buy your preferable set of toys, cute dolls, and fill your closet with shoes and clothes?
When I saw this little girl holding her dad, I couldn't but think about my son-in-law Dan. According to me, Dan is the best father a child can have. I am so grateful that just he is the father my grandchildren have.
Bless you, dear Dan.
