Rooster on guard

Iglesia del Señor San José, 1628-36.

The almost ruined tower was rebuilt in 1970, following the design of the previous tower, built around 1760. The five blue ceramic panels that currently adorn the main façade, are modern (1973). The central panel depicting San José con el Niño reproduces a canvas by the painter Antonio de Pereda, preserved in the Royal Palace of Madrid.

The sculptures of the niches of the main facade are also contemporary, they represent San Pedro and San Pablo (1973), they are emptied of concrete, the work of the sculptor and Sevillian painter Manuel Caballero (1928-2007).
