Canal Grande from Ponte dell'Academia

Palazzo Cavalli-Franchetti, 1565. In the 19th century it was internally modernised and externally enriched in Venetian Gothic style. This palazzo is tightly related with the Palazzo Pisani-Moretta. It is the second example of traceries superposed over the pointed archs gained from the crossing of two round archs. But here, this kind of tracery can be found on the first piano nobile and it is limited to five arches. (Ca'Pisani-Moretta: second piano nobile and six arches). Next: Palazzi Barbaro, Gothic, around 1425. It has two loggias with four pointed arches in the two piano nobili. Far right: Santa Maria della Salute, 1687, baroque, one of the so called plague churches. Venice 2014
