JFK Grave, 1964

This is the original gravesite of John F. Kennedy, Jr. in Arlington National Cemetery.

On the left is the headstone of his son Patrick Bouvier Kennedy, who was born premature and died after two days. On the right is the cross headstone of his still-born daughter Arabella. Their graves were moved [Patrick from Holyhood Cemetery in Brookline, Massachusetts; Arabella from Newport, Rhode Island] just a few weeks after JFK was assassinated.

In the middle is a mound of evergreen boughs, covering the top of JFK's grave and the base of the temporary installation of the eternal flame. There are also flowers and a few military hats.

JFK assassination, November 22, 1963; funeral Nov 25, 1963; children reburied December 5, 1963; all three moved to permanent gravesite March 15, 1967.

Taken by my grandfather David C. Cook. Development stamp April, 1964. Scanned from an unlabeled Kodachrome slide.
