It dates from the 1912 trial of what we'd now call domestic terrorists. These men were among the 38 found guilty and later taken by train to the pen in Leavenworth, Kansas.
It may have been taken at the same time as the photo from 10/9/1912. They were found guilty and sentenced in December.
Perhaps the front steps of the federal courthouse in Indianapolis have been changed a bit. Definitely the railing is less than 97 years old. The photo seems to be taken down and behind me a bit more, but there was an obstruction. Maybe it was just down the steps?
