HealyDive-555time1818

Pictures taken 17 August 2006, the day of the diving accident, when the Coast Guard lost two of its finest, a young lieutenant and a boatswain mate during a cold water dive off the Coast Guard Cutter Healy. For more pictures, see the Coast Guard's FOIA released photographs at www.uscg.mil/ccs/cit/cim/foia/Healy/Number 199. This was a tragic event; these pictures show the divers right before going in the water and during the very early part of the dive. May they rest in peace; they will be missed. And, thankfully, the Coast Guard is working on safety processes to improve the diving program so an accident such as this will not happen again.
