This is a portion of Seattle’s Central Business District where the neighborhoods of downtown and Belltown converge. It is anyone’s guess where one neighborhood ends and where the other begins because they are adjacent and in the same general area of the city. The foreground is Belltown (in addition to the next six blocks behind the lens that you can’t see), but the nine-level parking garage with the skywalk to Macy’s department store (and everything behind them) is definitely downtown. People might laugh at you if you say Macy’s is in Belltown, which is where more high-rise residences and restaurants are located.
The thoroughfare leading you through the image is Third Avenue, where all the metropolitan transit buses traverse. If you’re going to downtown Seattle by bus, you will very likely stop somewhere along Third Avenue.
