Advent of the Great Tulip Festival Photographer
“It’s the Great Tulip Festival Photographer, Linus!” exclaimed Charlie Brown in great anticipation.
“But I’m still waiting for the Great Pumpkin!” replied a very grumpy Linus, clenching his security blanket with abject frustration.
Taken on the last day of the 2011 Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, about 60 miles (97 kilometers) north of Seattle.
For friends who may be unfamiliar with the dialogue above, I am making a humorous reference to the cartoon, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” which is shown in the States every year around Halloween. Linus believes the "Great Pumpkin", Halloween’s equivalent to Santa Claus, will rise and materialize from the pumpkin patch and bestow gifts of candies and toys upon him and his friends. If you watch the video link, you will see who the Great Pumpkin turns out to be, much to the dismay and consternation of Linus’ wannabe sweetheart, Sally.
