I know that red foxes aren't afraid to swim at all.
They're actually pretty good swimmers.
I've heard plenty stories about foxes crossing a river or lake.
I did see them drink and occasionally wade through shallow water, but in all those years I never never ever saw one swim.
Until this spring, I suddenly noticed a fox walking towards the water.
Before I knew he got in and swam to the other side, where he shook off the drops and continued his way as if he just finished his daily swimming ritual ;)
For me it wasn't such an ordinary scene though: I was happy to finally get a chance to witness a fox swim.
