Through the Looking Glass

I was looking for an ornate frame to play with in portraits, and some great ladies in my church were quick to find one for me. This is one of the first shots I have taken with it, and it was my daughter who had the great idea to be crawling through it. The end result (as you can see) was excellent. Yet another lesson learned from my children! For those interested in processing technique: I made a virtual copy of the image, and toned it with a Lightroom 4 preset from Nicole Young called "After Sunset". It was great for the mood the frame, deck, and foliage bokeh behind my daughter; not great for skintones. I took the original and the toned virtual copy into Photoshop as layers, masked my daughter out of the toned version, and replaced it with the original shot, retaining natural skin tones and color on my principle subject. This created even more separation from the background, adding dimension.
