Flickr Improves Your Contacts Page

Improved Contacts Management Flickr Blog Yesterday Flickr released a revamped version of your "Your Contacts" page on Flickr.

The new page allows you several new ways to look at your contacts and is a big improvement over the mostly static page that Flickr previously had used.

Now you can search for contacts within your contact list and sort your conatacts in various ways.

Some of the new features don't work for me (I can't sort my contacts by number of uploads for example), but this probably has more to do with my unusually large number of contacts on the site.

You can also now, for the first time, see who calls you a contact in an organized way. With this new view it also makes it easier to monitor reciprocal relationships on Flickr. I suspect that this new feature will result in a lot of people on Flickr being added into reciprocal contact relationships in the next few weeks or so.

It's been interesting playing around with these pages this morning. I've already found some new people to add as contacts that I hadn't been following before. It was also interesting for me to realize that I've been on Flickr for 44 months now and see who were the first contacts I ever added on the site. Turns out the first contact I ever added on Flickr was SeenyaRita.

_ilan and Veterinaria C.A.N. added this photo to their favorites.

Oh, that is an improvement, well spotted!

However, the 'Who calls you a contact' page seems to be pretty buggy. I have a whole lot of contacts it tells me I haven't added back as one, when I have!

Def. a move in the right direction although the dates of contacts added is all wrong for me since I wiped all contacts and started from zero a couple of months ago, the problem was I added everyone who added me and ended up with a contacts page with a lot of images which I don't liked and the ones I did like became increasingly harder to find.

Benjamin, I noticed that as well. I think that there are still some bugs to work out with the new feature.

You were the first contact I added, Thomas. Actually seeing your work inspired me to join flickr and get more serious about photography. So, thank you.

damn, there must be a lot of us who have been inspired and influenced by your presence on flickr. i joined under your suggestion, so you were definitely my first contact. since then, i've learned that few contacts is best for me -- can't do the whole management thing without becoming way too addicted to photosurfing.

    cheers! happy friday

I just wish they'd update the the FlickrMail inbox. It has only the delete option... I would like Mark as Read because I usually know who has sent a mail and about what when I'm alerted via my normal e-mail. Instead of going to my inbox and then clicking on that mail, I'd would rather click on check-boxes and click Mark as Read.

    Okay, suggestion-rant over. :)

I like the improvement, but I am still waiting till they add contact sorter when you can process your contracts in batches like you can pictures. Maybe it's a bit impersonal, but Im not sure why feature is missing. When you have a huge contact list, it's a bit of pain to go one by one when you want to make certain changes.

Seen in my contacts' photos. (?)
