Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library, UofT > Collections

The items in this collection come from a donation of more than 3000 Canadian beer labels and related ephemera given to the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library in 2011. The collection covers the period of about 100 years starting in the late 1800s, and documents changes in tastes, design sensibilities and culture during this time, including changes in advertising trends and societal attitudes towards drinking. The items in this set are letters, reciepts, bills and envelopes from breweries with dates between the late 1800s and the early 1950s, and are beautiful examples of graphic design. All items come from Fisher item T-10 00095 and Fisher manuscript items mss gen 41 and mss gen 42, all of which are held at the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario Canada, M5S 1A5, library.utoronto.ca/fisher
