1946 Cadillac

    Newer Older

Several classic cars were parked outside of Georgie's Diner in St. Augustine today when I arrived there to deliver their bread to them. Probably all on their way to a car show, they stopped there to eat.

This Cadillac is probably from the late 1940's or early 1950's. Not sure which, as the year make was not indicated thereupon.

UPDATE: It's a 1946 Series 62 sedan. And a right lovely one at that! Thanks to codyjarrett for the clarification.

      Of course it's a pretty car. It's a Caddy, isn't it?

      "But of course!"

Cadillac needs to do a retro-Caddy using that exact same body, but with modern mechanicals. It would sell like hot cakes.

My grandfather's brother had a red Cadillac as I learned when I moved to a town across the river from the town he used to live in. I knew nothing about this person before then. I was told by someone in town that there used to be someone living there who had my last name. After writing a letter to a newspaper in a nearby town I located someone who used to know him. She sent me a photo of him standing beside his car. The car in the photo was red but referring to your photo I was able to colour correct the original photo. Apparently the only reddish colour for that year was Madeira Maroon Irridescent so the colour in your photo must have been the colour of his car.

That's very possible, assuming of course that this was the original color of the car.

I really like 1940's & 50's American cars, especially Cadillac's, they are very rare in England. This is an excellent photo, thank you for showing. I have two really rare models of Cadillac, see them here:-
