Blue felt Penelope bird baby booties

A new spin on the Penelope PBK design. I refer to this style as the Penelope because the birdie was fashioned after the Penelope series of Pottery Barn Kids bedding. Typically the bird is either a hot pink, pale pink or yellow.

I wanted to create a more monochromatic, neutral style..a pair that can be worn with everyday clothing..How adorable would a little one look with these and a pair of baby jeans..and a cute white tee?

All hand cut and hand sewn/embroidered with the blanket stitch. Each pair of baby booties I create are sewn using two layers of it is like two pairs of booties...I find that they booties are much more durable and hold a great shape using double layers..I strive to insure the baby outgrows the booties and not the booties not lasting through the wear of the baby...If crafted properly the booties can be handed down..or even better yet..keep them..hang them from a coat hook in your wee ones room..from your car rear view mirror..or let your little one use them for their dollies..

This is the larger sized pattern..measuring just over 5"L X 3 1/2"W (at widest point of toe) X 2 1'2"W (at heel) and stand a commanding 2 1/2" tall...ankle strap measures 7"L but closes comfortable at a radius of 5" with Velcro..

Some beautiful silver threads were used to sew around the perimeter of the birdie and to create the beak...and a matching silver ribbon was looped and sewn to create the tail feathers..Buttons create the cheeks and a foiled mini bead makes the these booties and I suppose they could be worn by either a little fella or a little lady..
