EPCOT World Showcase - Japan Pavilion
Walt Disney World
EPCOT World Showcase
Tucked away behind the pagoda and toward the back left side of the Japan Pavilion is this great little garden area with a koi pond. This shot is actually two sets of bracketed horizontal shots taken using the shift function of my tilt-shift lens, merged in CS5‘s HDR Pro, then stacked on top of each other using CS5’s Photomerge before being finished off in CS5/Nik Color Efex Pro. The top half of the shot could stand on it’s own, but I really liked the inclusion of the fence in the foreground as it provides some interest and scale and also a nice leading line to the Yakitori House.
A couple of interesting facts about the Japan Pavilion: “For years, Imagineers have considered building a roller coaster attraction based on Matterhorn Bobsleds from Disneyland but themed to Japan's Mt. Fuji... Another proposed attraction was a walk-through version of "Circle-Vision", in which guests would board and walk through a Shinkansen (bullet train) and look through windows (actually film screens) that showcase Japan's changing landscapes. The train would have shaken and moved like a train going through the countryside.” - source wiki
^^I’d love to see either of those ideas come to fruition, with the bullet train being the more realistic and economical attraction, I think.
