• Blue Jay cheese. actually the name's in French but I can't spell it now. It's a blue cheese and it was WONDERFUL. I've yet to find it in Toronto though.. Help! Paired with ice wine
  • A cheese, "Niagara Gold", made with milk from a Guernsey cow. Upper Canada Cheese Company is local in the Niagara region. This was so tasty I immediately bought a block of it at the winery -- after hearing that the farm isn't selling in Toronto yet.

The next winery we visited is Strewn. It is a smaller winery, but I thought their wines are quite excellent. They also read my mind (or maybe the wife did when she signed us up for this) and offered a wine and cheese tasting. Five cheeses with five wines. All all of them were ice wines but what the heck.

    Oh. My. GAWD. My mouth is watering just looking at this shot. I'd be interested in knowing which wines went with each cheese best. I'm an admin for a group called Canadian Wine Country, and we'd love to have your photo added to the group.

    well, writeb, the blue cheese went with an ice wine by Strewn. There was also a Chardonnay in this tasting. Didn't have the presence of mind to write down the pairings... was too much in vacation mode! Now I regret!
