The University of the West Indies (UWI) St. Augustine Campus hosted its Graduation Ceremonies on October 27th, 28th and 29th, 2011.

Six students were named Valedictorians this year. Ms. Bernice Robinson spoke on the morning of Thursday 27th October at the Faculty of Science and Agriculture ceremony, and Mrs. Meera Rampersad-Janglee delivered the Valedictory address at the Faculty of Engineering ceremony on the same afternoon.

On Friday 28th October, two ceremonies took place for the Faculty of Social Sciences. Ms. Anais Joseph spoke at the first, while Ms. Fameeda Mohammed, addressed the second.

Finally, on Saturday 29th October, Mr. Dexnell Peters, Valedictorian from the Faculty of Humanities and Education, addressed the morning ceremony, while Mr. David Milne, from the Faculty of Medical Sciences, did the honours in the afternoon ceremony.

The Campus also conferred eight honorary degrees at its ceremonies. The honorary LLD was conferred on: Professor Anantanand Rambachan, who addressed the audience on the morning of the 27th; Sir Fenton H. Ramsahoye, who delivered his address at that afternoon’s ceremony; Mrs. Helen Bhagwansingh and Mr. John Reginald Dumas was honoured on the morning of the 28th, where Mr. Dumas addressed the audience; Mr. Brian Charles Lara spoke at the afternoon’s ceremony (on the 28th), and Mr. Kamaluddin Mohammed spoke at the evening ceremony on October 29th. On the morning of October 29th, the honorary DLitt was conferred upon Mr. Donald ‘Jackie’ Hinkson and Mr. Roy Cape, who both addressed the audience.
