ESPLANADE FLAG FLYPAST

The state flag is flown past the parade when the national anthem is played during the National Day Parade. You can see the familiar spikes of the Esplanade Theatre in the foreground, looking like durian husks or fly's eyes to some, the Esplanade is a recently added icon for the arts scene in Singapore.

This picture was taken during one of the rehearsal days for this year's NDP (2005). I traced the path of the Chinooks with my camera from afar until they closed in and flew over our heads. Having the Esplanade in the context, I think, makes this picture more meaningful and unique.

In flight magazine for Tiger Airways : "Tiger Tales" published this picture in their Aug-Sep 2006 Magazine
