SHIFT: An experiment in fashion design, Part 1, September 21, 2017
On September 21, 2017 at 6:00 p.m., the Regional Arts & Culture Council and some of the region’s most innovative design thinkers celebrated The Right Brain Initiative's first annual celebration of equitable education, creativity in the classroom, and sustainable fashion benefiting Right Brain programming.

Whether participants are novice creators or seasoned taste-makers, in our first annual runway show we invited both rookies and established designers/design teams alike to debut runway garments made from recycled materials and found objects. Whether glued or stapled, sewn or woven, each piece displayed inventive form, unique style and a creative juxtaposition—shifting the materials from their original form into wearable couture.

The evening was full of fashion, reception-style fusion fare, tasty adult libations, whimsical post-show dessert and surprise guest performances as we celebrated The Right Brain Initiative’s 10 fantastic years of bringing arts integration into K-8 schools!

SHIFT Participants:
Emcee: Poison Waters (Kevin Cook)
Judges: Adam Arnold of Adam Arnold Studio, Nancy Judd of Recycle Runway, Brooke Olzendam of the Portland Trail Blazers
