Histoire: Les origines de Beynac remontent au Xe et IXe avant JC. Les populations choisissèrent ce lieu pour s'y installer. Le village de pierres et de bois, contrôlait la Vallée de la Dordogne.
Puis les Gaulois aux VIe et Ve siècle avant JC ont de nouveau occupé ce site pour contrôler le commerce du vin venu d'Italie.

Le château existait dés le début du XIIème siècle avec une tour carrée destinée à surveiller la Dordogne lorsque les populations du Nord remontaient le fleuve et semaient la terreur.
Au XVème siècle, aucun travaux ne modifient le château, c'est dans la seconde moitié du XVIème siècle qu'il s'embellit tout en améliorant ses moyens de défense...

History: The origins of Beynac go up to Xe and IXe before JC. The populations choose this place to settle there. The wood and stone village controlled the Valley of the Dordogne.
Then the Gallic ones with the VIe and O C century before JC again occupied this site to control the trade of the wine from Italy.

The castle existed dice the beginning of XII 2nd me century with a square tower intended to supervise the Dordogne when the populations of North went up the river and sowed terror.
With XV 2nd me century, no work modifies the castle it is in second half of XVIe century that it is embellished while improving its means of defense...

    Très belle photo! Il y a quelques années, j'ai fait une superbe ballade en kayak sur la Dordogne, et c'était une grande émotion de passer sous ce château en flottant sur la rivière...
