The 12x12 Project
The 12x12 Project is an art and social engagement project asking citizens: how much is enough? What's your 12x12? Produced by The World Policy Institute and co-curated by Fourth Arts Block, The POOP Project's Shawn Shafner was in residence from Aug 27-Sept 1, 2013, inviting the local community to clean out their closet and make space for meaning. Visitors to the 12x12 dropped off over 220 lbs of unused clothing, and contributed to the creation of a communal latch hook rug, made from vintage latch hook canvas and recycled t-shirts. The rug will remain unfinished and continue to grow. The remaining textiles were given to Wearable Collections for reuse and repurposing. More information:
