Every once in a while I like to step out of the boundaries and yesterday was just such a day.
Doug,Sue & I had managed to arrange a visit to Clive Farell's home in Dorset to witness the spectacular display of tropical butterflies in purpose-built greenhouses along with the spectacular landscaped gardens given over to prime habitats for Britsh butterflies.
Now I've visited many tropical butterfly houses before, but never with a DSLR and was looking forward to capturing some exotic splashes of colour. But neither Doug or I were prepared for the challenge of acclimatising the cameras and could only watch & wait with frustration while we waited for the mist on the lens and viewfinder to clear.
After about 15 minuted we were good to go and both camreras performed well in the heat & humidty, far better than we did! It was certainly a 'kids in the sweetshop' experience, so much so that even Doug preferred to forgoe the ponds and concentrate on butterflies for the day....
