DENVER,Colo.-March 29,2014-The Old Prospector stands in front of Brooks Towers on the 16th Street Mall. The 12-foot-tall, 500-pound statue once stood atop the Mining Exchange Building that occupied this space up until the early 1960s. Settlers in search of gold arrived in this area in the 1850s setting up mining camps along the South Platte River and Cherry Creek.
