      @ yes, afternoon sunlight casting a shadow of the window crank (i'd forgotten what you call those things...)

      @ Thanks, David -- the desaturation is in the tiles themselves, if anything i might have tweaked up the saturation a notch to bring out the subtle color that was there.
      @ Thanks, so it was worth tweaking the saturation, then -- at first that glare around the window crank shadow bothered me, but in the end I decided to run with it.
      @ ...or maybe a shiny portal to a skewed world?? thanks for posting it on your blog, there's some nice stuff there!
