Madness and Oppression Art Show - 2014
This art pieces directly or metaphorically examine the intersection of madness and oppression.

They deal with the trauma caused by legacies of abuse, colonization, racism, ableism, sexism, and other intersecting forms of oppression.

The Icarus Project’s analysis is grounded in awareness of the oppressive forces that shape our world and ourselves as we struggle to survive and even thrive.

How do we move beyond adapting and coping, toward actually changing the world that we live in? How do we do this together, despite all our wounds? How do we find unity across causes? How do we grapple with the imprints of histories of oppression that stretch back through time, from before we were even born, but still affect us today?

These are questions we are hoping to explore through art.
