I saw this wall in a hospital for patients with drug-resistant TB. It was engraved in such a powerful way that I was left speechless. To me, it is a symbol of how difficult it is for people affected by TB to access high-quality diagnosis, treatment and care. They feel alone, stigmatized and fearful, exactly as the person in the engraving. Facing all these challenges, they look forward to the moment when they will be free of TB, like the leaf in the image, which is flying freely in the gentle breeze.
We, as part of the Stop TB Partnership and the TB community, are doing our utmost to break down this wall and create a TB-free world. Our mission is to ensure that every person affected by TB has access to effective diagnosis, treatment and care, and to reduce the inequitable social and economic toll of this deadly and debilitating disease.
