Boeing Designs Advanced Technology Winglet for 737 MAX

    Newer Older

Boeing announced today a new winglet design concept for the 737 MAX. The new Advanced Technology winglet will provide MAX customers with up to an additional 1.5 percent fuel-burn improvement, depending on range, on top of the 10-12 percent improvement already offered on the new-engine variant.

Pictured here is an artist’s rendering of a 737 MAX 8 with new Advanced Technology winglets. This rendering is updated to reflect design decisions made since the launch of the program in August 2011.

A320 replacing its fences with winglets, 737 replacing its winglets with fences :D

Going off the renderings AA just released of their 737-8 MAX, it looks like it's a combination of raked wingtip and blended wingtip. This angle makes it look like a fence like Airbus but from underneath, the lower one is more horizontal.

Wow, it actually looks like an 737 had an affair with an a320!
The upper winglet from mommy, the lower wingfence from daddy, the extended tailcone from daddy, the fbw from daddy, a raised landing gear from daddy, a more efficient engine from daddy, the plumbing from mommy, the chrevrons from uncle 87...
Geez, daddy had a lot of genes to pass!
