Very good, and evocative of so may things.

i can't express how much i love this. btw, does anyone know who the artist is (central image)? surely he's the church's gilbert stuart, this version of jesus is so ubiquitous we've come to believe it.

a serious young man in his prime, sexually attractive, single, aloof, a rebel, long flowing locks, intelligent, the beard of a wanderer, an outsider, yet compassionate to all who are repressed or broken, anti establishment, anti authoritarian, a free spirit, against the government, able to turn water into wine, mysterious, emotionally sensitive... what woman wouldnt be aroused or in love? (his lithe young naked body hangs languidly in most churches)
Perhaps lacking mirth and a good sense of humour and a house, otherwise nearly perfect.
Given another 10-15 years he would have mellowed, got a decent job, maybe even with the government, learned to laugh and been pretty near perfect. Probably would have made a very good father, but would have avoided taxes where possible.

I guess Buddha had the advantage of growing old and chilling out from his serious young man days in the forest.

and he looks damn good with egg on his face. thank you for the description, it finally animates him in a way 17 years of forced bible study never could. maybe there are wise church leaders out there telling a similar story and not putting congregates into a coma.

have to admit there is something odd about eating off a Jesus plate -- like sort of a taboo.

    13. Floating Lantern 32 months ago | reply

It actually says on the back that the plate is not to be used for serving food. I assume this is because of the materials used in the printing, although it might be a warning about going to hell.
Either way, too late for me.

hm. I doubt whether Jesus be dishwasher-friendly.
