SUMMERTIME 2012, KERNITSA MONASTERY, PELOPONNESE, S.GREECE #6243
The monastery of Kernitsa, near the village of Nymphasia in the mountainous prefecture of Arcadia, Peloponnese, was built in 1105. In a cave inside the monastery the icon of Virgin Mary was found and it is considered miraculous. Besides the icon the monastery houses relics of Saints and Martyrs. Today it is an active convent which is open to visitors.
Taken during a 5 day photographic vacation (August 2-6, 2012) with my English wife Theresa Jane Brown, who is in this photo.
