The Süleymaniye Mosque (Turkish: Süleymaniye Camii) is an Ottoman imperial mosque located on the Third Hill of Istanbul, Turkey. It is the second largest mosque in the city, and one of the best-known sights of Istanbul.

The Mosque was built on the order of Sultan Süleyman (Süleyman the Magnificent) with the architectural genius of Sinan Pasha. The construction work began in 1550 and the mosque was finished in 1558.

Sorry I had to put the copyright banner in the middle of the photo, I know that it can remove some of its charm. Previously, I had never put any copyright banner in the middle. I put only very small mention in the corner. But lately, I found that some of my photos were illegally used on some web sites. My photos were cropped to delete the little banner in the corner and were used without any link to my flickr page. So I decided to put this banner as a temporary solution while I'm looking for a permanent and unintrusive one. Thank you for your understanding.
