BRISBANE FLOODED

    Newer Older

I think it is going to be worse than record 1974 flood - more people will be affected, because there are more houses and businesses have been built in the last 30 years, including many in the low level areas - like this industrial area in south-west Brisbane.

Note to my friends: do not worry about me, I am in relatively high ground in Brisbane

I wonder how all the wild life, from tiny insects and bugs to birds and kangaroos, small and large plants are going to recover from all this and wonder just how much is lost, even worms are useful in the ground now many will have been drowned.

Hope you are high and dry and with plenty of food and perhaps with a gas barbecue. It's going to be a while before things return to normal.

      UPDATE:
see 30 more photos I took in my area of Brisbane. All photos geotagged, and looking on the map you can realise how far the Brisbane river overflow

--thank you very much for looking and for your kind comments and thoughts.

Note to Australians: while our TV talks 24/7 about QLD disaster, do you know that floods have struck also Brazil? - the area around Rio de Jenaro, many more victims there. www.flickr.com/photos/53911892@N00/5353960596/

There are severe flooding in many parts of the world at the moment and in the UK some areas have been told to prepare for floods this weekend (15/16 January) . This is why I learn most of my world news each day from the BBC www.bbc.co.uk/news/ I also other world news services, some of which are giving excellent coverage of the QLD floods
